About

Hello viewers and possible future employers! First, I’d like to start off by introducing myself. My name is Carter Olson, and I really like to build things. Ever since I was a kid, I had an itch to build something new. Whether it was building an aircraft carrier out of legos, a roller coaster out of K’NEX, R/C cars and buggies, or a bicycle from scratch, I did it. I was also that one kid that would always ask the question, “why?” I always wanted the answer to things I didn’t know much about, and as life went on, the question that nobody could answer was, “Why do airplanes fly?” Nobody I knew could explain it, so I took matters into my own hands and started scouring the internet. After multiple hours of reading articles from NASA’s Beginner’s Guide to Aerodynamics, I still wanted more. I found the theories and physics of flight so intriguing, and at that point, I knew what I wanted my life to be focused on.

Now, three years later, I am a junior at Arizona State University studying Aeronautical Engineering. I couldn’t have been happier with the decision I made to pursue this great challenge and become an engineer. I believe I was meant to be an engineer ever since I was a little kid. My favorite thing when I was younger was taking stuff apart and “attempting” to put it back together. My mother wanted to kill me at times, and I don’t blame her, but I never gave up or became discouraged. I always wanted to challenge myself even more by digging deeper into mechanical assemblies and trying to figure out why it works. School has taught me so much, and I find myself constantly applying laws of physics and thermodynamics to real world scenarios, and I love it.

Through this blog, I hope to show you the great effort I put into each and every one of my projects, some of the challenges encountered throughout them, and a little bit about me. I hope to one day work on bigger and better things, ones that would impact the lives of others, and make a difference in this world!
